The Confederation Navy
Twenty-six active fleets. A combined-arms force built around flexibility, logistics, and numbers.
Combined-arms doctrine
The Confederation Navy employs a diverse fleet of battleships, carriers, battlecruisers, cruisers, destroyers, and frigates. Its doctrine pairs naval formations with Expeditionary Marine forces and corporate fleet escorts.
Variety gives Confederate commanders options across different missions and theaters. Sustaining those options requires extensive logistical support and cooperation between formations with different capabilities.
The standing and mobile arms
Twenty-six fleets are listed as active in 2780. The 20th through 26th Fleets form the territorial garrisons of the seven Military Districts. Lower-numbered battle and Expeditionary Fleets comprise the mobile arm.
Mobile forces operate beyond the district framework. The distinction allows fixed territorial responsibilities to coexist with missions that require fleets to range beyond the garrison line.
Command across institutions
The military command structure, CONSTRACOM, answers to civilian oversight. Naval units operate within a wider environment that includes federal authorities, corporate fleets, and ground forces.
The Confederation’s strength in numbers and logistics depends on those organizations acting together. Unity of command is a practical requirement whenever a crisis crosses institutional or territorial boundaries.
