The Holy Solar Empire
The coreward power whose imperial authority, religious life, and military strength are inseparable.
The coreward rival
The Holy Solar Empire is the Confederation’s principal military rival. It formally declared itself around 2580 CE, beginning an extended period of confrontation with the Confederation. Its position coreward places pressure on the Centauri marches.
Imperial society brings religious and political authority into a single hierarchy. Military achievement is a route to advancement, and the conquest and governance of worlds are understood through the Empire’s sacred obligations.
Throne, Synod, and Legates
The Emperor stands at the apex of Imperial authority. Beneath the throne sits the High Synod, a council of twelve senior Warsinger-commanders with substantial political power. The Synod confirms succession and approves declarations of holy war.
Legates govern conquered worlds and command the Empire’s numbered Crusade Legions. Successful campaigns bring influence; military defeat threatens a commander’s standing throughout the hierarchy.
The Warsinger fleets
Imperial naval forces center on dreadnoughts, heavy cruisers, and escorts. Warsinger choruses provide a living psionic interface with ship systems, contributing to shielding, sensors, and weapons guidance.
The Empire calls its psionic power Soulfire. Within its armed forces, the cohesion of a chorus has direct military importance. A vessel’s performance depends on the people sustaining that chorus as well as its physical systems.
