Your first look at the Confederation
It is January 2780. Humanity has spread across the stars. Worlds and orbital colonies are connected by interstellar trade, instantaneous communications, and a government that promises freedom, prosperity, and protection to its citizens.
Earth remains the Human homeworld and the Confederation’s constitutional capital. On Mars, presidents, senators, admirals, and corporate executives conduct the business of an interstellar civilization. Beyond Sol, families build new lives in artificial habitats, engineers assemble enormous warships, and naval recruits compete for opportunities that could transform their futures.
Along the frontier, the Holy Solar Empire is growing harder to ignore. Welcome to the world these people call home.
What is this site?
SolConfederation.com is the companion archive to Phoenix Dawn, a military science-fiction series. Here you can explore the people, institutions, places, and technologies surrounding the story. Read a newspaper interview, look up a warship, examine a personnel biography, or follow a route across the military districts.
You do not need to study the archive to enjoy the books. It is here for the moments when a name catches your attention or a passing reference makes you wonder what lies behind it.
Read the universe from the inside
Most material on this site is written from an in-universe perspective. A Navy biography reflects what the Navy chooses to publish. A corporate feature presents the world through the people selling its promise. A correspondent may challenge an official account—or repeat it without asking enough questions.
Consider who produced each record, what they could know, and whom they hope to persuade. The people of the Confederation have opinions about their society, just as you will.
This introduction is written directly to you, the reader. Once you enter the archive, you are reading over their shoulders.
Where should I begin?
Explore without reading ahead
The launch collection presents the setting from January 2780. Individual publications may carry earlier dates.
As books are released, additional records will become available. Reader Settings let you choose which published book collections appear as you browse. Unreleased collections remain sealed.
These settings guide your browsing; they are not a login or a security clearance. Your preference is saved on this device.
A growing record
The archive will expand alongside the series, with new reporting, biographies, reference entries, and documents that deepen what you encounter in the books.
For now, take a look around. There is a civilization here—and everyone has something to say about it.
